The United Nations declared 2026 the International Year of the Woman Farmer, shedding light on the role women play in the agriculture industry. In honour of this, the University of Guelph hosted the Canadian premiere of the documentary “Cubao is Theirs” on March 12.
The documentary showcases the stories of four women farmers in Cuba whose participation in the Agricultural Innovation Project (PIAL) transformed their lives. The four farmers travelled to Canada for the premiere and were available for questions after the documentary screening.
