Higher input costs, search for full-time work meant vendors struggled, prompting the venture to wind down after 11 years in the village

Shifting economic conditions led the Wellesley Farmers’ Market to close up shop after 11 years.

Many vendors have opted to look for full-time work elsewhere, explained Christine Hayter, one of the organizers, as to why the market couldn’t continue this year. 

“That just didn’t allow them to continue the year with the market,” she said, adding that the number of vendors continued to drop.
