The farmland across from Martin Grove village in Woolwich Township has been in the spotlight over the past couple of months.
The owners of the land on the north side of Bridge Street, CRA Lands Ltd., want to rezone the property for industrial use. Currently, the land is zoned for agricultural use, though it is a former gravel pit.
The core controversy is that the land sits opposite the countryside line – a Waterloo Region demarcation zone designated to manage urban growth, curb urban sprawl and protect farmland.
