Picking up three of the four available points last weekend, the Elmira Sugar Kings found themselves back atop the GOHL’s Western Conference standings.
Coming back to tie the Rockets in Strathroy Friday night, the Kings had to settle for a single point in the wake of a 4-3 shootout loss. Perhaps unsatisfied with that outcome, the team returned home the following day to harsh all over the London Nationals in an 8-2 win.
“I thought we had a pretty good weekend. We took three of four points – we would have liked four, but it was pretty good,” said head coach Cory McRae of the weekend that put the Kings in the number-one slot. “We haven’t been up there in a while.”
