The Wellesley Applejacks slipped from second to third in the division after back-to-back losses over the weekend.
A 4-2 defeat on the road to the Tavistock Braves, who ultimately moved into second place, was followed by a hot-tempered 3-2 home-ice loss to the New Hamburg Firebirds, sealing the drop.
Perilously, the Firebirds, Wellesley’s bitterest rivals, trail by only one point in fourth with a game in hand.
