Along with roads covered in snow and ice, local drivers have also been dealing with a proliferation of potholes. As a result, tire-repair shops have been especially busy.
Last week’s thaw led to even more crumbling asphalt, making matters worse on many Elmira streets, for instance.
“If you haven’t hit a pothole in Elmira, are you even from Elmira?” joked resident Joshua Reedhi on a local Facebook group.
