With so much uncertainty around fertilizer prices and the future of agriculture, University of Guelph professor Dr. Kari Dunfield’s research comes at the perfect time.

Dunfield and her team aim to develop more sustainable wheat by looking at how to reduce nitrogen waste in the plant’s production, helping soil health and maintaining the wheat’s quality for baking. This has the potential to reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer farmers need for wheat production by improving the nutrient’s use efficiency.
