Consistently running deficits, particularly in the wastewater budget, Woolwich is continuing to adjust rates to find a balance. Customers will pay more, with a target increase of 4.8 per cent on water bills, and 6.7 per cent for wastewater.
Councillors meeting Tuesday night saw budget documents that call for water to cost $2.38 per cubic metre, up from the current rate of $2.27, while wastewater charges will rise to $3.97 from $3.72. The bimonthly service fee will rise by the same percentages, $29.34 for water and $30.94 for the sewage hookups for residential users.
The average customer will pay an additional $90 a year based on consumption of 204 cubic metres.
