Every year, Canada’s 4-H youth brainstorm innovative ideas to support sustainable agriculture and food security in their communities through the annual AgriFood Challenge. This year’s contest, delivered by 4-H Canada in partnership with Syngenta Canada, announced Waterloo-Wellington’s online Dining on a Dime 4-H Club as one of the winners.
The club started during the pandemic and meets every Saturday morning on Zoom with people from across the province, learning new recipes and cooking skills. Their meetings focus on making great, budget-friendly meals, often from food waste, helping people save money and protect the planet. For the Agrifood Challenge, the club decided to have each member innovate ways to use their food waste.
