Workers clearing Elmira’s Weigel stormwater management pond have been delayed by the wet fall weather, Woolwich Township has revealed.

The rainfall made it harder for the heavy machinery that has been used to remove accumulated sediment and vegetation that had been making flooding more likely.

The township provided an update on the status of the project after some residents claimed on social media that toxic material had been found in the pond, which is beside Park Avenue West.
