Young members of Elmira’s Woodside Bible Fellowship will hit the streets again on Halloween night, but they won’t be looking for candy.
Instead, they’ll collect non-perishable items for the food bank at Woolwich Community Services.
This year’s effort involves the latest group of volunteers for Citizens Always Need Supper, or CANS, as most know it, which dates back to 2003. They’ll continue a tradition that began with a couple of 12-year-old Woodside Bible Fellowship attendees who decided to do something a little different on Halloween evening, going door-to-door to collect food donations instead of treats.
