Disney’s 1989 musical The Little Mermaid makes it to the local stage next week in a Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy production at the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge.
Among the 60 students drawn from 30 different schools are Wellesley’s Valentina Dixon-Scirgalea, St. Jacobs’ Taya Nero and Heidelberg’s Paisley Quickfall.
Under the direction of Elmira’s Jackie Mustakas, the musical tells the classic story of a rebellious 16-year-old mermaid named Ariel (Sophie Appoo) who is fascinated with life on land.
