The Canadian national blood bank is in urgent need of donations across the country as its supply has dropped by nearly 20 per cent.

Katie Bea, the Canadian Blood Services community development manager, told The Observer that summertime typically sees fewer donation appointments.

“People, they’ve got their summer plans, they’re busy, and sometimes donations appointments fall to the wayside. That’s why it’s more important for folks to come out and donate in the summer months because the need for blood doesn’t take a summer vacation,” she said.
