A good diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. For Barney Kuntze, owner of Pinacle Health and Fitness in Elmira, combining nutrition and fitness is an ideal way to support the seasonal food drive at Woolwich Community Services.

To that end, Pinacle is offering 10 guest visits to the club for $10. All proceeds will go directly to the WCS food drive. The certificates can be purchased at the club by members for friends or family, and by non-members for themselves and their guests. The first visit starts with a tour of the club, and each visit allows full use of club facilities and services.

“We wanted to do something that fits with our mission – building a stronger community, one body at a time – and offering affordable fitness classes and giving food to those who need it seemed to work well,” said Kuntze.

FOOD FROM FITNESS Barney Kuntze (right), owner of Pinacle Health and Fitness in Elmira, is welcoming new visitors to the club this month as part of the ’10 for 10’ project. New visitors can get 10 visits to the gym for $10 with all proceeds going to the seasonal food drive at WCS.

Typically, a day pass to the gym for one visit is $10, so this promotion allows people to visit the gym, commitment-free for a much reduced price, which Kuntz said is one of the goals of the project.

“By allowing people to visit, to go on a tour of the facility, to try out the equipment and the classes, they can see what it is like before they buy a full membership. And all the money is going towards a good cause, so it’s a win-win.”

The money raised will be used to purchase goods for WCS’ food hamper program. Food hampers are made available to low-income individuals and families in Woolwich Township and parts of Wellesley Township. The composition of hampers is based on family size. Participants receive a basket containing perishable and non-perishable items.

“We think it’s important to give back, especially at this time of year,” said Kuntze. “The unique team effort is a perfect 10 that will benefit all those involved, and we look forward to a very successful campaign.”
