Residents are organizing over concerns about a plan that would bring sweeping changes to the use of the land on the north side of Bridge Street at the edge of Woolwich Township, opposite an industrial area in Waterloo.

A Facebook page entitled Protect Woolwich Farmland! has brought together local residents looking to protect farmland, as well as residents opposed to the proposed industrial park. The project would require turning away from a longstanding policy of a delineated countryside line that shouldn’t be crossed, separating urban space from agricultural land.

The development would sit directly across from Martin Grove Village, a 137- home residential community.
