In talking with people about the large tax increases and rampant spending in Woolwich, Chane Ballantyne kept hearing that someone should do something about the situation. He decided to do just that, entering the race to become the township’s new mayor.
The lifelong Elmira resident, 53, joins current councillors Evan Burgess and Eric Schwindt in the bid to replace Sandy Shantz, who’s stepping down after this term after 12 years as mayor.
Voters go to the polls October 26.
