It’s been just over a year since the Kissing Bridge in West Montrose shut down for construction and rehabilitation, and completion on the $12-million dollar project has been repeatedly pushed back. As one of the most iconic tourism destinations in Woolwich, designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, the 145-year-old structure continues to attract visitors who currently have to enjoy it from the other side of a fence.
According to Kurtis Wells, economic development and tourism officer for the Township of Woolwich, the attraction remains a unique glimpse into the area’s history.
