Ontario Heritage Week is always the third week in February. This year it was held from Feb. 17th to the 23rd.

Heritage Wilmot held their event at the New Dundee Community Centre. They invited Wilmot residents and organizations as well as local Historical Societies to showcase their display on “Mills from the Past”. Lunch could be purchased from the New Dundee Women’s Institute who had several kinds of soup, rolls, refreshments and cookies for sale.
The day began at 10 a.m. with people invited to visit the many display with an awards ceremony taking place at 1:30 p.m. Al Junker spoke and showed slides on the many various mills that were in Wilmot Township. A large map of the township was on the wall with all the mills marked. Honoured this year for their heritage preservation in Wilmot Township were Castle Kilbride who are celebrating 25 years and the New Dundee band shell which is 75 years this year.
