ReForest Woolwich is looking to increase the township’s tree canopy with a spring tree giveaway. Community members have until May 1 to complete their forms to order free trees for their backyards.
Each household can order up to 50 free potted stock trees, each 2 to 4 feet tall. The trees come from Benjamin’s tree nursery in Waterloo.
This will be Reforest Woolwich’s third tree giveaway; in the past, they have had both a spring and a fall offering. The giveaway is part of the non-profit charity’s effort to increase Woolwich’s canopy cover to 30 per cent from the current level of just over 16 per cent.
