Retired chicken farmer Len Jewitt was excited to hear that regional council plans to contribute more than $1 million for a new footbridge in Wallenstein.

The 75-year-old philanthropist had previously pledged to $3 million to connect the 132-kilometre G2G Rail Trail with a Conestogo River crossing.

“I’m obviously very excited about that,” said Jewitt, noting the project has been a “labour of love.”
