The skilled trades sector has received a sixth cash infusion from the Ontario government, in its continued push to encourage growth and fill positions within the construction, manufacturing, transportation and emerging technology industries.

The latest funding of $9.8 million will be shared across six projects, with the goal of providing training to 1,150 workers and job-seekers. This is all part of the province’s $236 billion plan to build homes, highways, schools and critical infrastructure.

And while the money is a welcome boon, according to Skilled Trades Ontario’s CEO Candice White, addressing the labour issue is a multi-faceted conundrum.
