I think every angler will concede that the biggest fish they have ever hooked was the one that got away. The ones that got away are always everyone’s biggest fish.
Not to brag, but I have personally hooked several Ontario-, and possibly world-record fish – and every one of them got away. I’m not sure why that is, but I just know that’s what always happens.
How do I know this?
Well, there are anglers who specialize in big bass. Then there are those who have expertise in catching walleye. There are trout savants and muskie masters too. There are even the panfish pundits. As for me, I just happen to be the world’s foremost authority on the one that got away. I have hooked and lost hundreds of them.
