Players will be throwing pitches and swinging bats this weekend, all in the name of Don Green to raise funds for local sports and recreation.
The Wellesley and District Lions Club’s annual Don Green Memorial Slo-Pitch Tournament is set for August 7-8 at the Wellesley diamonds.
The Lions have run this event for close to 20 years, but Green’s family started it in the 80s, following his death.
“[Don] is a well-known community member, very involved in the community in different facets,” said organizer Blair Cressman, noting he was also a familiar figure across the agricultural industry in southern Ontario.
