It’s the sport known as the fastest game on ice, and parents can sign their kids up now for the 2026-27 season.
Carolyn Baltaz, the president of the Waterloo Ringette Association, revealed that their registration numbers are on par with last season, but maybe a bit higher for this time of year.
“We try to encourage early registration for regional programs, so that we know what teams we’re hosting and we can get coaches in place,” she said, noting they have around six more registrations than they had last year around this time period.
Ringette was first invented by Sam Jacks in 1963 because girls couldn’t play organized hockey at the time, but now the sport is played by both girls and boys.
