Teachers are not the only ones advocating for urgent action during Education Week, which has mobilized workers across the province. Others in roles ranging from principals to guidance counsellors to support workers and custodians are all rallying together to decry what they consider chronic underfunding by the Ford government.
Same goes for education assistants and child and youth workers, according to Lisa Weiler Haskins, president of the Educational Assistants Association.
“I’m seeing a real movement between educators and parents and action groups coming together to really say ‘we need to pay attention.’ These students are our future, and we need to make sure we’re giving them everything they need,” she said.
