They wanted to give peace a chance.
St. Jacobs Mennonite Church in late April held a busy day of action in response to the rising risk of global war, addressing fears that humanity is needlessly repeating its violent history. As a peace church known for its pacifism and commitment to social justice, the congregation came together to worship, pray, create signs and write letters, among other activities.
“We started our Peace Day with a worship time that included stories of three people who have experienced war or civil rights protests,” organizer Brent Horst told The Observer.
